Today was a blank slate, so we made our finger paint.
It was great fun to paint. To prevent any mess from getting on the floors, we laid out a large strip of paper and got to work.
HOW TO MAKE FINGER PAINT
Because Rory is now getting her molars, I made our paints. So that she could have a mid-morning snack, I made a simple flour, salt, and water mixture. We made quite a few of these recipes, so we will need to meet next time to ensure we don’t waste paint.
Ingredients for our edible fingerpaint recipe
- 1 cup flour
- 2 1/2 cups cold water
- Two tablespoons salt
- Food coloring in a variety of colors
- saucepan
- wooden spoon
- Use jars and cups to store your paint.
- Mix the paint with a spoon or wooden sticks.
- Paper
Step 1
- Mix the flour with water in a saucepan. Cook on low heat until it becomes smooth. Mix in the salt and then turn off the heat.
Step 2
- Place the paint base in jars or cups, and let it cool. After the paint base has cooled, add a few drops of food dye and stir. The brighter or darker the color, the more shade you use.
Step 3
- Get messy and get painting! You can either use your fingers or a paintbrush.
